Shipping Projected to Reach New Record Highs This Holiday Season

by LJM Group
The online shopping market has grown exponentially over recent holiday seasons and will continue to expand this year. UPS projects a 13-15% boost in online sales this holiday season, boosting their shipping package volume by 3-5%. FedEx expects to carry over 22 million shipments on December 2, its projected busiest day of the year.
One reason for the increase in online purchasing during the holiday season is the emergence of “Cyber Monday”. Cyber Monday is the online equivalent of “Black Friday”, as companies offer deals and incentives for customers to shop on their websites. The top holiday marketing tactic of online retailers, according to a recent study conducted by Experian Marketing Services, is to offer free shipping. 39% of online retailers label free shipping as their top holiday promotion, followed by daily deals.
With this increase in online purchasing and the high volume of shipping, companies need to make sure they aren’t being overcharged for package deliveries. LJM Consultants will help audit shipping invoices to ensure retailers are not being overcharged and are getting all of the services they pay for.
