Funded by LJM, the Movers & Shakers Scholarship is a $2,500 and $1,000 scholarship offered to qualified students and researchers who are interested in finding novel ways to reduce supply chain costs without compromising customer service.

1st Place – $2,500
Ksanthipi Lapa is a graduate student at SUNY Maritime College in New York earning a Master’s in International Transportation Management. As part of her studies, Ksanthipi is also pursuing an Advanced Certificate in Supply Chain Management through extended courses that examine models and hierarchy of strategic planning and tactical objectives. This will help further her expertise in efficiently controlling the movement of goods as a future supply chain manager.
2nd Place – $1,000
Tanvir Ahamed is PhD student in Transportation Engineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). After receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, he served as a research assistant in two large-scale transportation projects in Bangladesh. This professional experience opened Tanvir’s eyes to the practical challenges in transportation engineering and was the catalyst in pursuing his current PhD. For the last four years, he has been working on a National Science Foundation funded project that concerns eliminating the externalities of moving freight in cities using ordinary people, who can transport freight within cities while walking, biking, or driving.
