In the past, Amazon has used external carriers for its last-mile trips, which includes actually delivering the product to the customer’s door. After branching out into drone and robotics-based delivery adjuncts, Amazon’s new plan is to create a legion of small delivery companies with Amazon branding, and they are recruiting hundreds of entrepreneurs to start their own businesses delivering for the retail giant. For the future roll-out, this means essentially anyone who wants to can start an official Amazon delivery service.
Now, the U.S.’s first Amazon-branded delivery service has been announced: Austin-based C.L.S. Express. That means Austinites will be the first to start seeing Amazon-branded vans around town.
